Midweek Random Thought 1 - Progression

The issue of how long we wanna stay in Japan has been on my mind since the Spouse was recruited into the program. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? (once I DID really caught a fish alive). 1 is too short, 2 is probably nice, 3 is stretching it, 4 raises questions of the future, and 5 would be like "What are you guys still doing here?!"

CY said it's 'amazing' to be living in Japan for 5 years. I dunno about 'amazing', but my answer was that there's no real progression in life in these 5 years. Work and remuneration for the Spouse will remain the same. Tabun (probably) ditto for me. Not that life is all about progression in career and wealth. Like how Solomon puts it, "vanity of vanities; all is vanity". So what is 'real' progression in life then?

Solomon's point is that 'real' progression, no matter what you do, can only be truly satisfying and fulfilling if you have God in your life and you seek to please Him and do His will. 6 months into our stay in Japan, I deeply realise that I will always feel the lack in life if I do not seek God in everything I do.

Be it 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (I really DID let the fish go again), my greatest prayer now is to find (in order of execution) willingness, time, peace, and solace in Him, and Him alone. And being here in a foreign land creates the perfect uninterrupted and undistracted environment to focus on this 1 single task!
