我不喜欢这么冷的世界

I think my tropical body is too old to be getting accustomed to seasonal and wintry changes. Unlike some of the more athletic and winter-warriors I have seen jogging in the wee hours of a blizzardy night (we spotted a jogger at 12.30am last night!), I have only managed to clock two 40-45 minutes afternoon jogs in an attempt to shed off extra winter kilos when the strength of the sun is at its peak. I must say that it is already quite a feat. And Kochi is not even THAT cold.

The end of January will mark 6 months of stay in Japan. Come February, the Spouse will have to decide if we are to stay another year or to return. A year of school ends in March with 2 weeks of holidays before the new term begins in April again. May, June, July should give us wonderfully warm (if not hot) summer weather like where we come from before the long summer holidays kick in. By August, we would either be packing up, or living life as usual a year ahead of where and when we started.

It seems a year is easy to be counting down to. There are but 12 numbers in a year, 30-31 in a month, 7 in a week and 18 in a day (taking away nerujikan-sleeping time lah). Yet when I sit in the cold trying to overcome the inertia to go about the daily chores and tasks in the house, the minutes and seconds drag along with the chill in the air that refuses to go away with layering of clothes and blasting of the heater.

或许一个热烘烘的世界才是一个行动比较自由的世界。。。
