With great power comes great responsibility

Leadership and authority comes from God in many forms. For me, leadership and authority were bestowed upon in the form of the eldest sibling, 1 of the eldest cousins, organisational role in mumbo and yec, etc. I specifically mention my roles in these aspects as they probably are the ones I treasure and hold dearest to my heart. To sum it all up, it's 'being 大姐'.

There's 'power' in being 大姐. To a certain extent. I wouldn't bother measuring the greatness of the power or the extent of influence. The whole meaning of this 'power' lies in the intangibles and relationships built. Like how WJ ever commented (to such effect) about 大姐's influence and standing in the camp. Or how H plays netball because she'd seen me play it when she was young. Or just how recently my 2 cousins M and W blogged about 'losing' me coz I got married.

I'm flattered.

Flattered that God, among the many mortals, gave me such 'power'; the power to influence, to be a role model. I may not have performed it to the best of my ability so far, and I had even, before truly knowing God, let the pride of 'being 大姐' go to my head. But thank God for humbling me through many ways and people, one of them including Mr Wong :D

If relationship building is one way to bring people to Christ, I pray to God to hand-hold me in all the relationships I build with the people around me. Never let go.
