The end of week 37 signifies the entrance into the window period of full term birthing. Theoretically, TLO is now descended lower into the pelvis in preparation for engagement (literally) to this world.
Physically, the MTB feels:
1) Less bloated coz more space for the stomach to digest food
2) More peeful as TLO's head starts jamming southwards
3) Stomach cramps resembling those of menstrual cramps on and off.
The tummy is noticeably larger too. Though still no protruding button or excess fats where it shouldn't be. The MTB is thankful that she probably will not have to go through intensive reduction of fats and stretchmarks.
A surreal feel of calm and peace has descended upon MTB since many weeks back. The very very initial fear of birthing pains and later stage breastfeeding obstacles have trickled down to faith in her God and peace in her heart. She no longer thinks about how painful it may be, epidural remains an option till the day comes; there is also no more apprehension about whether breastfeeding will work out, it WILL unless otherwise.
Not counting down, but looking forward.
