Home. Again.

After 360 days of home away from home, it was (truly) home again on 1 August 2010. Whatever initial apprehension and possible displacement all melted away within minutes of speeding down ECP in a taxi of the typical F1 driver-wannabe.

There were no 'wows' and 'wahs' at the transformation of the Marina Bay area; no 'oohs' and 'aahs' when gobbling down our first durians; no 'huhs' and 'uh-ohs' at the HDB projects that had started before we left and still to be completed. Yup, no sense of being yama(no)kames at all despite the time and distance. It almost felt like we never left.

The first and only time of bikkuri was seeing the little nephew walk around in the cluttered apartment, picking up things to throw into the bin (apparently his hobby), and mumbling gibberish toddler language to himself at the same time.

Yes, landscape and development changes can never pull at the heartstrings as much as changes in people.

I was glad that what touched me was a positive development, rather than any occurrence that might have thrown me into sadness and despair instead. I thank the Lord that we did not have to bear any regrets in this year that He had blessed us with what was a pursuit of our own happiness and desire.

How many more loved ones can we just choose to let live and let go? Now that we're home, I pray that we never lose the persistence and strength to bring them to know the Lord and Saviour of our lives.
