"I thirst"

Jesus's words on the cross were just these few:

1) "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do" to the Roman soldiers who were crucifying Him.
2) "Today shalt thou be with me in paradise" to the penitent thief
3) "Woman, behold thy son!" to His grief-stricken mother Mary
4) "Behold thy mother!" to John the only disciple who had not fled the scene
5) "My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?" to God at the ninth hour, coming from Psalm 22
6) "I thirst" to which He was given vinegar from a sponge
7) "It is finished" to His Father in heaven

Notice that the only words Jesus spoke indicating pain or discomfort were I thirst. It was not that He did not suffer, but only that He did not complain.

Let me always just, thirst. Amen!
