The City Mice and The Country Mice

2 country mice went to Kobe for a short weekend get-away. The city was filled with people and bustling activities. Even till late into the night. The country mice were reminded of a life not so long ago that was somewhat like this too. Bustling, crowded, bakeries galore, fashionable young men and women parading the streets, etc. It was a nice reminder that they too, were once from such an environment.

The country mice had VERY expensive (but incredibly excellent) Kobe beef, enjoyed summer festival dances, ate hanbaga (note: not hamburger but just a slab of 'hamburg' meat) at a western restaurant, strolled along harbour scenes the likes of Vivocity, stayed in a humble ryokan, did western coffee and canapes for breakfast, immersed in the historical atmosphere at Himeji Castle and ended the trip with another excellent round of cold soba and assorted rice set.

The country mice did their calculations and figured this holiday wasn't cheap. However it was concluded that nothing was cheap in this foreign land anyways, be it in the city or the countryside.
