It's happened a couple of times. Going out with a group of colleagues for lunch, chatting happily at first, then as the conversation (never) deepens, I find myself contributing only to the carbon dioxide through breathing.
I've made some observations among some of these people who work in the same office as me. I hope it's not judgmental coz I do not mean it to be. I'd really just call these random thoughts, 'observations'.
There are the married couples who have no children. By choice. THE common trait among them is to turn their love towards pets. The exhibition of this love towards animals is a showcase of their unlimited compassion which cannot be extended to children that they could have called their own.
Then there's the extremist. The one who opposes every single opinion, thought, comment, views of her nemesis, or so she deems it. No loopholes there. Anything the thorn says and does is, well, a thorn in the flesh. And the extremist is already being nice to the thorn by telling her to take care coz her kid is not well.
In this same lunch, I chanced upon my uncle and aunt at the coffeeshop. We exchanged a few words of genuine surprise and concerns at meeting each other, and I was struck by how they were just 2 elderly persons, and not people I had perceived to be at odds with my belief.
In this lunch hour, I felt heavily burdened for all these lost people around me who did not know Christ.
The difference is not in the character, behaviour, or attitudes of these people. The difference is in that, I know Christ and they don't. There are Christians out there who can be of the same character, behaviour, and attitudes as non-Christians, but at the end of the day/world/life, the surety is there for those who have Christ in their lives.
If you'd ever thought that you cannot accept Christ in your life because the people around you will not approve and be heartbroken, please remember that by not accepting Him first and hence be the catalyst to help those people you love know Him and attain salvation, you have just become an accomplice of the Devil to bring them to THE eternally burning place...
