Day One as a Public Servant

Properties issued:
1) A set of stationery consisting a blue pen, a black pen, a hole puncher, paper clips, staples and a stapler
2) A laptop
3) A 2007 Year Planner
4) A Nokia handphone (cham! means 24/7 liaoz)

The general feel is comfortable. There are a few other 'newbies' like me who are just 1-2 months old. My mentor is also just about 6 months old. Nice.. new enough to bitch with, and yet not too old in the organisation to be defensive about it.

I'm seated 3 metres away, unobstructed from the window on the 18th level. A window seat nevertheless. And the handicap toilet and pantry is just 5 secs sprint away. :P

Received a text from Julia with wishes for Day One. Thank God for sisters in Christ.

Grouses so far are that the cubicle panels are too high and obstructive for better communication and interaction with colleagues, and the office is too silent. Can't help but feel obligated to switch my handphone to silent mode.
